Audit Tools
Evaluation and feedback is one of the five components included in the WHO Multimodel Hand Hygiene Culture Change Progam and includes the collection of hand hygiene compliance data. Hand hygiene compliance is a valid and reliable measure within health care.
The Hand Hygiene Australia hand hygiene compliance auditing method is by direct observation of healthcare workers. Hand hygiene compliance data is only able to be collected and submitted by validated auditors.
Hand Hygiene Australia do not currently recommend routine hand hygiene compliance auditing with the 5 Moments for Hand Hygiene audit tool as an outcome measure in the non-acute, primary care or mental health setting. A number of of additional assessment tools are also available for use when compliance auditing is not appropriate or as a means of addressing identified issues.
